¿Qué Rayos Acaba De Suceder Sobre Míchigan?
Residentes de varias ciudades de Michigan se
sorprendieron en la noche del martes por una extraña luz que cruzó el cielo,
provocó una explosión y luego, un temblor. ¿Qué hubo detrás de estos fenómenos?
La noche se convirtió en día por unos segundos y la tierra tembló por un
meteorito en Detroit. El Servicio Geológico de los Estados Unidos (USGS, por
sus siglas en inglés) ha confirmado este miércoles la explosión de un meteoro
en el cielo cerca de la populosa ciudad de Detroit (Michigan, EE.UU.), que
incluso fue registrada por un sismógrafo cercano como un evento de magnitud
2.0.
El temblor se registró a las 20.09 hora local
(pasadas las dos de la madrugada en España).
La «ubicación aproximada» de la
explosión del meteorito de Detroit fue a ocho kilómetros al oeste-suroeste de
New Haven, localidad de unos 4.600 habitantes a las afueras de Detroit y
cercana al lago St. Clair y a la frontera con Canadá.
Más tarde, un experto de la NASA compartió con
el diario The Detroit News un informe preliminar en el que explicaba que se
había detectado la entrada del meteorito a la atmósfera a las 20:08 (hora local, poco antes de que sintiera el temblor) y que se calculaba que el objeto tenía un diámetro de entre uno y dos metros. La agencia espacial estimó que pesaba más de una tonelada y que recorrió una distancia de entre 64.000 y 84.500 kilómetros antes de cruzar la atmósfera de la Tierra.

Según recientes informes, habría aparecido un
cráter visible desde la autopista Torreón – Saltillo, entre los kilómetros 165
y 164, en el estado de Coahuila, al Noreste de México. Se han difundido algunas
fotografías que muestran un agujero humeante y con llamas de fuego aún en su
interior. Los medios especulan que se trataría de la caída de un meteorito; sin
embargo no se tiene confirmación de ello. El hecho habría ocurrido el día 18 de
